Engineering Manager - Structural

The Engineering Manager of Structural is responsible for managing, training, coordinating, and providing oversight of the structural engineering group. This position is also responsible for implementing best engineering practices, improving engineering processes and procedures, refining engineering training program, strategize and pursue business development opportunities, and maintain excellent relationship with internal and external stakeholders. Assignments will include providing technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to the engineering team, provide strategies to support organizational goals and objectives, and oversee the success of the structural engineering group.

The successful candidate will possess intimate knowledge of structural engineering principles, management skills, and is able to demonstrate flexibility and agility to pivot with changing project scopes and demands. Top candidate will showcase their qualifications by leveraging their project experience and knowledge to future operations with the Company.

This is a remote position and will require travel at times (approximately 30%).


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Champion and manifest the company’s Mission, Core Values, and Culture

  • Mentor, lead, and train the structural engineering team

  • Assist the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of team members

  • Enforce company policy in accordance with Company Handbook

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Technical & Processes

    • Develop, implement and maintain a strategy for leading the structural engineering group as they continue to grow and evolve

    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within their qualified field of expertise and provide project support when applicable

    • Act as the Engineer of Record (EOR) to support projects as needed and when appropriate

    • Track and report team’s performance based on established KPI’s

    • Lead the development of bid packages, work order packages, and other project reports

    • Collaborates with Company’s leadership to develop and achieve goals for the structural engineering team and provide guidance on gaps and improvement to processes and procedures

    • Work with management to develop a robust engineering QA/QC program to assure engineering excellence

  2. Mentorship, Training, & Career Development

    • Mentor and lead structural engineering team members in their development and career progression

    • Collaborate with management and Principal Engineers to develop and maintain overall for engineering training and development programs

    • Assist in the annual review of structural engineering team members

  3. Other

    • Participate in business development discussions and activities as needed, including attending conferences and other activities

    • Assist in the creation of Proposals and Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) as needed

    • Provide input and direction on resourcing needs

    • Ensures structural engineering team has required tools to be successful

    • Support management in other technical or business related activities as required

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other industry related field required

  • Advanced Engineering degree is desirable

  • Minimum of 8 year of industry related experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering management

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
